Tell us the story of your book’s title. Was it easy to find, or did it take forever?
The title represents the actual main subject of my book. It was actually fairly easy to come with because that’s what my book is an honest collection of my thoughts.
How did it feel when you first saw your book cover? Or when you first held your book in your hands?
I can’t begin to describe the feeling of accomplishment, pride, and relief that I felt seeing my book actually come to life. It was absolutely perfect! The book quality in itself is what I noticed immediately alongside the sharp and vibrant colors of my cover. I was so overwhelmed that I cried.
Who/what made you want to write? Was there a particular person, or particular writers/works/art forms that influenced you?
Honestly, my youngest daughter is responsible for this newfound love for writing. I was telling her some of the things that I had experienced as a teen and she was so captivated that she said “Mom, you should write a book.” I started my first novel, entitled No Title – The Beginning, and in the midst of doing so, Scattered Thoughts was born.
What other professions have you worked in? What’s something about you that your readers wouldn’t know?
I am in healthcare and have been for over ten years. Something that I believe my readers wouldn’t know is the extent of my imagination and that I am an avid chocolate lover!
What was the most rewarding/meaningful part of publishing your book?
Working with the editorial team had to be my most rewarding. I say this because they actually got it and instead of trying to completely change my book they simply made brilliant suggestions that fit. It felt good to have someone outside of myself and like my work.
If your book had a soundtrack, what are some songs that would be on it?
“Crazy in Love” – Beyoncé
“Butterflies” – Michael Jackson
“Delusional” – Mariah Carey
“Side to Side” – Ariana Grande
What is one thing you hope readers take away from reading your book? How do you envision your perfect reader?
I hope that the tidbits of phrases and lessons learned by Sky will help someone realize their potential and be able to overcome the obstacles in their lives.
What new writing projects are you currently working on? Or, other projects that are not writing?
No Title – The Beginning is one that I am working toward publishing as well as a course attached to each book to offer a helping hand and giving resources for programs to help.
How was working with Atmosphere Press? What would you tell other writers who want to publish?
I absolutely love them! They make it easy to see your dream come to life. There’s no red tape. No hidden agenda: just a company ready and willing to help an author achieve their goals. The one thing that I would tell any author seeking publication with Atmosphere is trust the process and the team! Be kind and patient with them as they will with you. Above all, communicate what you want! They won’t get upset or irritated, they will just assist as best as they can to help your book come alive.
