Having the right narrator is key, so we’ll pinpoint what you want and rehearse multiple voice talents to find the best representative for your work. Then we help navigate the production process and ready your book for wide distribution.
Audiobook-building timeline
Crafting an audiobook is a step-by-step process. Clear communication and a steady timeline are the best way to make yours beautiful.
Week 1
Let's Start
Your initial payment:
Send along the $200 deposit for your audio samples. This deposit will go towards the total cost of the project.
Audiobook survey:
Once completed, your answers to the survey will help guide us to your perfect narrator.
Be as thorough as possible, and feel free to send us any additional notes or comments you want considered while we begin searching for your ideal narrator.
Weeks 2-3
Audio Samples
Customized samples:
Once we have 4-6 great audio samples, we will send them to you for listening.
Give a close listen:
Listen to all the samples, and choose the narrator that you like the most. Once you’re committed to a narrator, there’s no going back. So choose wisely!
If you need more samples:
Don’t like the first batch of narrators? We will send you one more round of 4-6 samples.
Weeks 3-6
Production
Production notes template:
We will send you a template for all the notes you want the narrator to have. Include all your characters and their traits. This allows the narrator to nail the recording the first time around.
Extended Sample:
We will get an extended ~15 min sample from the narrator, and this allows us to fine-tune any last details before production begins.
Submit payment:
Submit the complete first 1/2 payment.
Weeks 6-8
Post Production
File approval:
Audio files will be sent to you as they are completed. Give them a listen, and if there are any edits needed, we can get them addressed at this time.
Files complete:
After all the audio files are approved, we will get to work on the upload. This includes filling in all the required metadata, cover reconfiguration, and linking to your print & ebook formats.
Submit payment:
Submit the remaining project balance.
Weeks 8-10
Distribution
Quality Control:
Your completed audiobook will go through QC to ensure it meets all the audio and file requirements. It is usually complete within 1 week.
Additional Quality Control:
Some vendors/retailers have an extra fine filter for quality control.
Distribution:
Over the course of 30 days your audiobook will show up across the distribution network!

Enterprise package authors already have an audiobook, so there’s no need to add one here. If you have a Flagship or Essential deal, you’re in the right place to make an audiobook happen for your book!
Distribution Only is for authors who want to record their own audiobook, or have a friend or family member that wants to record the book for them? It offers all the same great distribution as any other audiobook, but we use your completed audio rather than using an outside narrator. We just need the finished audio files that meet the requirements from the distributor, and we’ll handle the rest. From the cover art reconfiguration to the metadata input, and all the way through upload and distribution.
Audiobook options are discussed with you during the interior design phase of publication, but production work begins once your paperback and ebook are listed on Amazon. At that point we start seeking audio samples, and once you choose a narrator we move into production.
Audiobook production typically takes between 4-8wks. Every book is different though, and we’ll work to get a production timeline as soon as a narrator is selected.
For our full-service production package, our team will come alongside you through the entire process of creating an audiobook, from finding the right narrator to distribution. We’ll source narrators and work with you to find the perfect fit for your book, create a professional recording, proof for quality assurance, and distribute the finished audio to our 30+ retail partners. Our Distribution-only package is perfect for authors who handle their own audio recording but want assistance packaging and uploading their audio files for retail distribution.
Enterprise authors receive full-service audiobook production as part of their publishing package, covered under a separate audiobook agreement. Essential and Flagship authors can add audiobook production or a distribution-only package at the pricing listed above.
We use Amazon’s ACX marketplace to help locate the best possible vocal talent for your book. We’ll match your title with potential narrators using in-depth criteria you provide, including age, accent, and tone. After we’ve gathered the top four to six auditions, you’ll receive an email to select your favorite. Once you’ve replied, we’ll send over an “extended sample” to ensure you’re happy with your choice. Once you give the green light, we’ll start recording!
Yes! After you sign your contract, you will be sent an audiobook production form where you can specify attributes such as gender, age, accents, as well as any important pronunciation or character notes you think is important for potential narrators to know.
If you don’t like any of the initial batch of narrator samples, we will do one more round of samples!
We have over thirty distribution partners, including but not limited to Amazon/Audible, Google Play Store, Apple, Barnes & Noble, EverAnd, and Spotify.
Yes, you as the author will retain all print and audio copyright.

Once uploaded to our distribution platforms, your audiobook will appear on all retailers over the next 30 days.
