An Interview with Izabela Hinc

I have been writing for as long as I can remember – stories, poems, and essays that trace the inner and outer landscapes of my life. A multi-migrant, I began moving across the globe at age eleven and have continued this journey through many homes in Poland, Germany, and now Miami, Florida. These experiences have shaped my distinctly multicultural perspective. One is rooted in the lived moments of this journey.

Tell us the story of your book’s title. Was it easy to find, or did it take forever?

It just came to me sitting outside a hotel in Disney World. As I looked at everything and remembered that everything is one, it became the title.

How did it feel when you first saw your book cover? Or when you first held your book in your hands?

Incredible and humbling. I loved it truly.

Who/what made you want to write? Was there a particular person, or particular writers/works/art forms that influenced you?

I don’t know that it was a specific person or event. I just always felt it.

What other professions have you worked in? What’s something about you that your readers wouldn’t know?

The writers workshop really helped me open up to the idea of writing and aligned with what I’ve always felt.

What was the most rewarding/meaningful part of publishing your book?

I truly enjoyed working with my editor; the process felt like holding a mirror to my own work. The thoughtful feedback I received affirmed that what I’m creating has meaning and the potential to resonate with others.

If your book had a soundtrack, what are some songs that would be on it?

Don’t Stop Believing by Journey, Home by Michael Bublé, Babel by Mumford and Sons

What is one thing you hope readers take away from reading your book? How do you envision your perfect reader?

I hope readers walk away from One feeling a little more connected – to themselves, to others, and to the invisible thread that runs through every human story. My book isn’t about one person’s journey, but about the shared experience of searching for belonging, truth, and meaning in a fragmented world.

What creative projects are you currently working on?

The Newlydeads, a poetic novella series that blends verse, narrative, and emotion. Each book explores the spaces between love and loss, life and afterlife, human and divine. It’s not traditional fiction – it’s more like a spiritual mirror, where the ordinary becomes extraordinary and the dead are not gone, just transformed.

How was working with Atmosphere Press? What would you tell other writers who want to publish?

It was a great experience. I already recommended Atmosphere Press to a few of my writer friends, and one of them is about to have his first work published in the US by Atmosphere Press.
