I live in Flint Michigan and I love creativity. I am a former cosmetologist and makeup artist. I’m also a jewelry designer and I used to create handmade designs for my Etsy store. I have a gift for interior decor and abstract painting. I love music, with Prince being my favorite of all time.
What inspired you to start writing this book?
My imagination. Music inspired this book. I was listening to music one day and scenes started popping into my head. I didn’t start immediately, but they marinated in my mind for quite a long time. The more they marinated, the more they talked and more characters started showing up, so I figured I’d better start writing.
If your book had a soundtrack, what are some songs that would be on it?
Actually, there is a Spotify playlist in Yellow Cake Chocolate Frosting! It’s a very eclectic mix. Check it out!
What other professions have you worked in? What’s something about you that your readers wouldn’t know?
I have over twenty-five years of medical office experience.
Who/what made you want to write? Was there a particular person, or particular writers/works/art forms that influenced you?
A lot of things inspire me. I’ve always had a way-out imagination, but music and movies inspire me the most.
Where is your favorite place to write?
Anywhere I’m comfortable.
What advice would you give your past self at the start of your writing journey?
Skip the querying, go straight to self-publishing.
What’s one thing you hope sticks with readers after they finish your book?
I hope they love my characters and get at least one nugget of wisdom or read something that may open their mind about something that they may have different thoughts on. Amongst the moments of sex throughout, there are a few pieces of inspiration also.
