I write under a pen name of Josie Christie, which was my paternal grandmother’s name. I thought Christie may bring me luck. I’ve been writing since I was fifteen, mostly for family and friends, but decided it was time I wrote a novel. I live with my partner Andy in Surrey. We enjoy music, dancing and travelling, particularly to Italy, where I have family connections.
What inspired you to start writing this book?
Listening to friends and their stories about their love lives.
Tell us the story of your book’s current title. Was it easy to find, or did it take forever?
I chose Triangular because it contains three novellas and each novella has a love triangle.
Describe your dream book cover.
I have a cover already, as the book has been self-published. I am just in the process of editing my second book.
If your book had a soundtrack, what are some songs that would be on it?
For the first novella: Fall at Your Feet by Crowded House
For the second novella: You’re so Vain by Carly Simon
For the third novella: Just Be by Paloma Faith
What books are you reading (for research or comfort) as you continue the writing process?
Currently reading The Thursday Murder Club as my second book is a mystery/murder.
What other professions have you worked in? What’s something about you that your readers wouldn’t know?
I am still working in financial services as practice manager for a mortgage broker. My readers wouldn’t know, but the first novella in the book is partly autobiographical.
Who/what made you want to write? Was there a particular person, or particular writers/works/art forms that influenced you?
I loved English at school. Give me a blank piece of paper and a subject and I could write an A4 sheet at least on the subject. It might be drivel but I’ve never been short of words.
Where is your favorite place to write?
In my office at home. It’s cosy and I have a TV in there and two comfortable armchairs, so when I’ve had enough of the computer, I make myself a coffee and relax.
What advice would you give your past self at the start of your writing journey?
Start sooner. Don’t wait to be ready. You become ready by doing!
What’s one thing you hope sticks with readers after they finish your book?
That they enjoyed it and can’t wait for the next one to be published.
