An Interview with Christopher Bolsover

Christopher Bolsover joined the Derbyshire Constabulary at sixteen, then the Royal Military Police serving in Germany and Northern Ireland, the latter as an investigator with the Special Investigation Branch during the major troubles there. He immigrated to Australia in 1974 and was a private detective before starting his business career, which took him to the heights of Corporate America with multi-billion-dollar companies.

After being shot in the back three times in a house invasion in South Africa, a wake-up call, he started writing the novels he had always wanted to, calling upon his surfeit of experiences. He now has The Deathly Denial, a crime thriller, ready to publish, as well as the follow-up books in the series, The Cleansing List and On the Brink of Uncertainty. Curtis Blaine – Private Investigator books are under development.

Christopher has authored children’s/teen books under the pen name of M.W. Heinze. He has lived on five continents, visited nearly every country in the world and currently resides in Oxford, UK, with his wife and two children.

What inspired you to start writing this book?

After being shot three times in the back after a home invasion in South Africa.

Tell us the story of your book’s current title. Was it easy to find, or did it take forever?

Originally published as the Hellfire Club. Too many other books specifically on that subject, and mine was a criminal fiction which got mixed up with them. The Deadly Denial covers the action in the book and works well.

Describe your dream book cover.

A burning old abbey.

If your book had a soundtrack, what are some songs that would be on it?

Set in the 19070s, so pop songs from that era. Probably a Beatles one or two.

What books are you reading (for research or comfort) as you continue the writing process?

Stuart McBride novels.

What other professions have you worked in? What’s something about you that your readers wouldn’t know?

Police, military police, private detective, corporate senior exec for billion-dollar US companies.

What advice would you give your past self at the start of your writing journey?

Be careful with publishers; they only promote well-known authors and/or if you are what is known as a ‘celebrity’. Otherwise, they want to make money out of you and throw your books like mud against the wall.

What’s one thing you hope sticks with readers after they finish your book?

The four protagonists. Interesting characters, two men and two women. So they will read the follow-up books in the series.
