I’m Danielle Elaine, an entrepreneur and your favorite tattooed author! I write multiple genres of books, so you never know what my next project will be. I just love writing, period. I won a bronze medal in college for a short story I wrote, but my love for writing came when I was younger. I was also previously a tattoo model who’s been featured in and on numerous covers of magazines with interviews, owned and ran a magazine myself, brand ambassador for many apparel lines, and an artist.
What inspired you to start writing this book?
I’ve loved writing since I was a child, and poetry has always been a favorite of mine. For this book, Veiled Whispers, I already had poems written that I held onto for years, so I took those and added multiple new poems. My inspiration came from life experiences and world events, both past and present.
Tell us the story of your book’s current title. Was it easy to find, or did it take forever?
It was easy to think up the first name in my book, which is Veiled, because I believe we are all veiled by something in life. The second word of my title simply nods to the fact that only through whispers can the truth be told in our veiled existence.
Describe your dream book cover.
I’d love to have a cover done with silver filigree on black leather material, old vintage, with beautifully done designs on the book pages when it’s closed. The spine would also adorn these images.
If your book had a soundtrack, what are some songs that would be on it?
Ooo good question. I’m an absolute music lover, and if my book had a soundtrack, it would vary wildly. Starting with “Gypsy” by Fleetwood Mac, “Cupid Carries a Gun” by Marilyn Manson, “Time Is On My Side” by The Rolling Stones, as well as “Symphony for the Devil,” “Rolling Stone” by Bob Dylan, “Jericho” by Iniko, and “Stay Gold” by Stevie Wonder
What books are you reading (for research or comfort) as you continue the writing process?
Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein and The Mahabharata. I’ve always loved Shel, but I’ve never read the Mahabharata, and it’s proving to be very interesting, at the least!
What other professions have you worked in? What’s something about you that your readers wouldn’t know?
I’ve worn many hats over the years, including healthcare, where I worked in an operating room, owner and publisher of my own magazine, brand ambassador work as a published model, and now currently a published author with many projects in the works including more books to come, an umbrella company for apparel, and a different genre of magazine all getting ready for release. I also study herbal remedies and natural healing.
Who/what made you want to write? Was there a particular person, or particular writers/works/art forms that influenced you?
No one in particular; I’ve always been a poet at heart and an avid reader. I have, however, been a huge Anne Rice fan among many others who’ve inspired me. I also believe in protecting and cherishing books with knowledge for future generations, some of which I have in the works, including a natural healing book.
Where is your favorite place to write?
Alone. As with any writer, it is much easier to collect your thoughts and write by yourself. As far as an actual place, I aspire to write in the mountains, by the beach, or any real nature setting. Fun fact, I do like having music softly playing in the background and for some reason don’t like writing in silence.
What advice would you give your past self at the start of your writing journey?
I’d tell myself to finish my book at an earlier stage in life. To take the leap sooner into fully believing in myself.
What’s one thing you hope sticks with readers after they finish your book?
That life itself is poetic!
