Who/what made you want to write? Was there a particular person, or particular writers/works/art forms that influenced you?
I’ve always had an overactive imagination and enjoyed creating stories in my head. My dad is quite creative and often used to write poetry and short stories, I loved reading them, especially one he wrote about him giving me my first driving lesson! I’ve often started writing books over the years, but never really getting beyond a few chapters. It wasn’t until we adopted our second child, during covid, that I had more time on my hands than I anticipated. So I grabbed my iPad and started writing a story, before I knew it I had nearly finished and my friends and family encouraged me to publish!
What other professions have you worked in? What’s something about you that your readers wouldn’t know?
I’ve worked in a variety of industries ranging from banking to transport, working mainly in admin or project management. I’m not sure there’s anything that my readers don’t know about me. I’m a pretty open book and share details of my life with them via newsletters and social media. But I suppose not many people know that when I was a child, I wanted to be a Spitfire pilot!
Tell us the story of your book’s title. Was it easy to find, or did it take forever?
When I first started writing, I had no idea what my book was going to be called. It wasn’t until I was a third of the way through my first draft the title came to me. It says exactly what happens in the book!
How did it feel when you first saw your book cover? Or when you first held your book in your hands?
Honestly, I was so proud of the work I’d put into the book, and when I worked with my editor (a friend’s editor also), she also helped create my book cover. I had an image in my head and it’s almost like she could see it as it was perfect on the first draft. When my first copy was delivered, I cried. I had published a book! I was so pleased that it looked exactly how I imagined it would.
If your book had a soundtrack, what are some songs that would be on it?
This is something I often think about, as I’d love to develop actual soundtracks for my books! One song I imagine being at the end of Falling for the CEO would be “Love Me Like You Do” by Ellie Goulding.
What is one thing you hope readers take away from reading your book? How do you envision your perfect reader?
In all of my books, I like to write my leads as strong independent women and men who can be vulnerable. I’d love for my readers to feel that. My perfect reader…I suppose someone like me. Someone who can devour a book and feel like they’re immersed in the world they’re reading in. Someone who can feel what the characters feel and imagine the scenes around them whilst they’re stepping into the story.
What was the most rewarding/meaningful part of publishing your book?
It’s hard to say what the most rewarding or meaningful part of publishing a book is, but if I had to narrow it down, I would say the sense of pride I felt when my book was published. I did it! I’d published a book and I felt immensely proud of myself that I saw the process through.
What new writing projects are you currently working on? Or, other projects that are not writing?
I’m currently working on the final in the Falling series – Falling for Red. Then I’ll be embarking on an exciting new dark romance series in 2025. I’m also working on a house move and work in various volunteer positions so always having a project to hand.
