Who/what made you want to write? Was there a particular person, or particular writers/works/art forms that influenced you?

My boyfriend (at the time) suggested I write a book after reading a short story I’d emailed him to keep things ‘interesting’ in our relationship. At first, I brushed him off and didn’t think much of it. But after he insisted I at least give it a try, I caved and started writing my first manuscript (and boy was that rough draft rough lol). After some fine-tuning, I self-published my first novella in 2018.

What inspired you to start writing this book?

The inspiration for Love & War stemmed from my time in the U.S. Navy and how being a servicemember impacted my personal life. As a creative, I was compelled to write this book as a form of therapy and self-expression.

Tell us the story of your book’s title. Was it easy to find, or did it take forever?

Compared to everything else, coming up with the title of Love & War was the easiest part of the process. It gave me a sense of direction when writing and let potential readers know what to expect.

What other professions have you worked in? What’s something about you that your readers wouldn’t know?

Other professions I have worked in include the military, an insurance agency, the medical field, and sales.

What is one thing you hope readers take away from reading your book? How do you envision your perfect reader?

One thing I hope readers take away from Love & War is an exceptional reading experience. Additionally, I hope they connect with the book’s theme of resilience and showing bravery and integrity, even in the face of adversity. I envision my perfect reader as someone who enjoys spending regular time reading thrillers in a cozy nook with a mood-enhancing ambiance. I also envision them as part of an active book club that digitally detoxes by reading physical copies.
