An Interview with Marie Angel

Hi, my name is Marie Angel, and I love to write romantic suspense and romantasy. My passions include romance and the mystical. I live in Collegeville, PA, with my three cats, and I am an avid reader and fan of Nora Roberts and JR Ward, among many others.

Who/what made you want to write? Was there a particular person, or particular writers/works/art forms that influenced you?

I’ve always been an avid writer. English has always been one of my favorite subjects, and storytelling is a born and bred passion.

One day, the urge to write was so strong that I could not resist. I started and paused and started and paused…until, here we are today.

I love to pick up a book and get lost in an adventure! All of life’s problems and responsibilities just fade away, and you can be transported anywhere.

I definitely feel that I have my own unique style of writing, and I hope that you will take the time to read what I wrote and enjoy it!

What inspired you to start writing this book?

My dreams inspired me to write this book and make them a reality. That is where most of my stories come from.

Tell us the story of your book’s title. Was it easy to find, or did it take forever?

The gray heron is a symbol of patience and transformation. The allure is that we must use our imagination to find beauty in nature and the world around us, yet it takes determination for us to pursue our best life. It was an easy, natural progression of the story.

If your book had a soundtrack, what are some songs that would be on it?

Take Me Home, Country Roads by John Denver

Bad as I Used to Be by Chris Stapleton

She Calls Me Back by Noah Kahan

Welcome to My Nightmare by Alice Cooper

You’re the Inspiration by Chicago

What other professions have you worked in? What’s something about you that your readers wouldn’t know?

I have worked with children for over thirty years, and I love children’s rhyming books.

Most people don’t know that I love all kinds of music from oldies’ fifties music to eighties hip hop, and a lot more!

What books did you read (for research or comfort) throughout your writing process?

Most of the research is done on my computer in a sporadic fashion as I’m writing, but I am an avid reader. Recently, I’ve read Sarah J Maas’ ACOTAR series and Rebecca Yarros’ The Empyrean series, in addition to Jayne Ann Krentz and Lisa Jewell.

What advice would you give your past self at the start of your writing journey?

The most important advice I could give would be that there is a reader for every writer. Do not be afraid to put yourself out there and expose your thoughts and feelings in your book because even if one person doesn’t like it, the next person will.

What’s one thing you hope sticks with readers after they finish your book?

I hope that my readers will feel as if they are there in the story with my characters, experiencing everything that happens, and when they finish my story, I hope they feel a sense of completion and assurance that all is right in the world and it ended just as it should have.
