An Interview with Miriam Ferraresi

I hold an MA in global studies, with a focus on peace and security in Africa, from the Institute for Peace and Security Studies and Leipzig University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in political science and international relations from the University of Roma Tre. For almost ten years, I have worked as a project manager and country representative for non-governmental organizations. Right now, I live in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Tell us the story of your book’s title. Was it easy to find, or did it take forever?

The Guardian Angel has a double meaning. I named it that because the story features a person who protects and guides the people who are important to him. I named it The Guardian Angel because it was my protector and friend throughout this journey.

How did it feel when you first saw your book cover? Or when you first held your book in your hands?

I was very excited to hold the book for the first time. It’s just a dream come true.

Who/what made you want to write? Was there a particular person, or particular writers/works/art forms that influenced you?

Sydney Sheldon’s book served as my inspiration. But this story sprang to mind as I sat in a coffee shop reading a book. I started writing the first lines in my phone’s notes. Just to say it all started this way.

What other professions have you worked in? What’s something about you that your readers wouldn’t know?

I have worked on women’s empowerment by implementing various projects.

What was the most rewarding/meaningful part of publishing your book?

The most rewarding moment has been to see the book travel the world through online platforms and be present in bookstores. And it has been really rewarding to receive the book’s review from Readers’ Favorite.

If your book had a soundtrack, what are some songs that would be on it?

There are many soundtracks. I will reveal them in the next session.

What is one thing you hope readers take away from reading your book? How do you envision your perfect reader?

I would like them to know that there is nothing more valuable than true and loyal friends.

What creative projects are you currently working on?

Well, there is a project aside from The Guardian Angel: The Recruit Part II. I don’t want to reveal more. It’s a surprise for my readers!

How was working with Atmosphere Press? What would you tell other writers who want to publish?

As a new writer, I’m quite happy to work with Atmosphere Press. Everyone on the crew is skilled, hardworking, and devoted. I really thank the entire team for their support, hard work, and for being great partners on this journey. I highly recommend them.
