Who/what made you want to write? Was there a particular person, or particular writers/works/art forms that influenced you?
We were influenced by the late, great L.A. Banks, author of The Vampire Huntress Legend series.
What other professions have you worked in? What’s something about you that your readers wouldn’t know?
Gabrielle: I’m a physician, and I’ve worked as a personal trainer.
Nicole: I worked as an MBA.
Tell us the story of your book’s title. Was it easy to find, or did it take forever?
We wanted to focus on a small Southern town and have witches as the main characters. The name of the town, Salix Pointe, came about from us wanting to feature weeping willows in the story. We decided to use the scientific name for willows, which is Salix.
How did it feel when you first saw your book cover? Or when you first held your book in your hands?
We were ecstatic! We originally had another cover for book 1, which we absolutely loved, but, because our first designer retired, we had it redone by another artist for the audiobook, and fell in love all over again.
If your book had a soundtrack, what are some songs that would be on it?
“I Put a Spell on You” by Nina Simone and “Superstition” by Stevie Wonder.
What is one thing you hope readers take away from reading your book? How do you envision your perfect reader?
We think there’s no such thing as the perfect reader, but we hope anyone who reads our book will enjoy learning some historical facts mixed with some entertaining embellishment. Fiction at its finest.
What was the most rewarding/meaningful part of publishing your book?
The most rewarding/meaningful part of publishing our book was having readers actually love it, and feel invested in the characters and the town. We were also humbled by the fact that so many of them appreciated our research and numerous historical references.
What new writing projects are you currently working on? Or, other projects that are not writing?
We’ve just finished one contemporary romance series, Upgrade You, and are in the process of completing another, A Weekend Affair. Then we will be working on the fourth, and final, book for The Witches of Salix Pointe.
