An Interview with Gina V. Badd

Gina V. Badd is every bit a bad girl—a spicy, outspoken, Italian firecracker!

Gina is a dreamer, and fiercely believes if you want something, go and get it!

She lives in Indiana with her husband, Travis.

When not writing, you can find her screaming kill scene ideas at a horror movie, attached to her Kindle for hours every night, singing at the top of her lungs, over-dramatizing literally everything, driving her husband up the wall, and cracking jokes about things that aren’t necessarily funny.

What inspired you to start writing this book?

I’ve been wanting to write books for a while now.

I’ve had this character living rent-free in my head for well over two years probably now.I finally decided to stop procrastinating and to actually do the thing!

So now, only a little over a year later, I have three books published, one book on pre-order, and one book in the process of being made into an audiobook!

Tell us the story of your book’s current title. Was it easy to find, or did it take forever?

The title was extremely easy for me. I knew what the title of the series was going to be for the trilogy.

But it literally just came to me within a matter of seconds.

Describe your dream book cover.

Using cover models definitely! Having my FMC surrounded by all of her MMCs.

If your book had a soundtrack, what are some songs that would be on it?

Just look up the band Falling in Reverse and there you go!
I also used Halestorm to fuel my writing.

What books are you reading (for research or comfort) as you continue the writing process?

I’m reading dark romance why choose sometimes, and paranormal why choose.

What other professions have you worked in? What’s something about you that your readers wouldn’t know?

My last career was in journalism. I was studying to be a reporter, but I ended up being a local news producer. It wasn’t for me.
Something that readers probably don’t know is that I’ve been writing since I was old enough to hold a pen. I won my first award for an essay in third grade!

Who/what made you want to write? Was there a particular person, or particular writers/works/art forms that influenced you?

My biggest influences for the dark romance genre are Amo Jones, K.G. Reuss, and K.V. Rose.
The authors that I’ve read for years such as Laurell Hamilton and J.R. Ward also helped influence me.

Where is your favorite place to write?

Sitting at my desk in my bedroom, surrounded by all of my favorite things.

What advice would you give your past self at the start of your writing journey?

Be patient.

Learning to write a book is a process that I don’t think any authors ever completely master.

It’s an ever-going journey of learning.

What’s one thing you hope sticks with readers after they finish your book?

That any woman, despite her amount of trauma, can rise above and beat her demons!
