An Interview with Lillie Diaz
My name is Lillie Diaz. I’m married with four kids and I’m a Christian. I wrote a book of short stories, personal essays, and testimonies.
Tell us the story of your book’s title. Was it easy to find, or did it take forever?
It took awhile but I asked God for confirmation about it so I knew the title was meant to be
How did it feel when you first saw your book cover? Or when you first held your book in your hands?
It was like a dream come true. When I was in elementary school, I used to win contests for young authors and now I’ve accomplished my dream.
Who/what made you want to write?
Growing up, my outlet was writing. I went through a lot of traumas and difficulties in my household so I came to find that writing helped me escape.
What other professions have you worked in? What’s something about you that your readers wouldn’t know?
I help take care of the elderly. I got my associates in creative writing. I’m getting my bachelor’s in English and I’m also getting a certificate in technical writing while I’m a stay-at-home mom going to school full-time.
What was the most rewarding/meaningful part of publishing your book?
The fact that God will get glory and people will see that there’s hope for their future.
If your book had a soundtrack, what are some songs that would be on it?
This song called “My Story Your Glory.”
What is one thing you hope readers take away from reading your book? How do you envision your perfect reader?
One thing I hope that readers take away is to know that they’re not alone with whatever they’re going through. I don’t think there’s a perfect reader. I think that writing can speak to people in multiple different ways.
What new writing projects are you currently working on? Or, other projects that are not writing?
While continuing full-time school online, I’m also thinking about writing my second book right now.
